2016 is a year that I will see as positive step in my game. While I didn’t have any tournament wins this year, I achieved some big goals and I have put myself in a position to continue my progression in 2017.

It’s rare that touring pros get the opportunity to play in the team format. So, it was a huge honour when I could represent my home country of South Korea in both the Olympic Games in Rio and the World Cup of Golf in Australia. What made those events even more special was the opportunity to team up with my good friends Jeunghun Wang in Rio and KT Kim down under. In addition to these events, it was also great fun to represent Asia in the EurAsia Cup back in January.

On the individual side, I’m pleased to have gained my PGA Tour card for the 2016/17 season. I look forward to combining events on the European and PGA tour in 2017.

As we move into the offseason, I shift my focus to improving my fitness. Unfortunately, I was injured ahead of the Masters in April and this really affected my preparation for that tournament. Thankfully, I worked with my doctors to be able to tee up at Augusta but going into next year I plan to work harder on my physical conditioning which I hope will help prevent injuries in the future. I am continuing my work with coach David Leadbetter, caddie Dan Parratt and physical therapist Dr Craig Davies to start the 2017 season off strong.

Finally, I’d like to thank all of the members and staff at Wentworth Club for your support this year. I wish you all the best for the holiday season and look forward to our first game on the new West Course in the new year.
