2010 BMW PGA Championship

The European Tour’s flagship event once upon a time rotated on several of Britain’s finest courses, Wentworth being among them, but in 1984 it returned to the West Course and hasn’t ever left.

It was a fine piece of matchmaking. The BMW PGA Championship, as it is now known and Wentworth’s West Course have been good for one another. Every spring this is European golf’s main attraction.

And many of European golf’s major champions have triumphed in this event; the likes of Jacklin, Ballesteros, Faldo, Langer, Woosnam and Olazabal, as well as eight-time Order of Merit winner Colin Montgomerie. It remains high on every player’s victory wish list.

With the European Tour having expanded to new international horizons, the schedule is such that the BMW PGA Championship now signals the arrival every year of championship golf in mainland Britain, and with it comes that buzz of anticipation and excitement. Ah yes, Wentworth in the spring is indeed a splendid place to be.

We congratulate Paul Casey on winning the 2009 Championship. For a full round-up Click Here
