Wentworth Employee honoured for her “Commitment to Excellence”

Laura Smith, HR & Training Officer at Wentworth Club has just scooped the ‘Human Resources – Rising Star’ award at the 13th Hospitality & Catering Personnel Training Association (HCPTA) Awards held recently at the Landmark Hotel.

Laura received particular praise for her work coordinating a staff training programme at Wentworth, namely ‘Commitment to Excellence’, which was developed to train employees throughout the club to meet the same high standards, whatever their role.

Chair of the HCPTA and co-host on the night, Judith Owen, said: “Our awards celebrate best practise and flair within the industry. Laura is a shining example of all that is best within HR, training and the professionalism of the industry as a whole”.

Laura said of her success: “The award is great recognition not just of my efforts but for the Club as a whole. This award is also a fitting tribute to the time and commitment Wentworth has invested in staff training”.

Chef of the Year

Congratulations to Stephen Tonkin, our Executive Chef on winning “Golf Club Chef of the Year” at the recent Clubhouse Magazine Awards ceremony, held at the Warwickshire Golf Club. Stephen was short listed to the last four in the country and I am pleased to announce that he won the award, which recognises not only his ability to cook, but his financial awareness and dedication to his team and the Club.

Golf Club of the Year

In addition, Wentworth Club was voted “Golf Club of the Year” for the second year running. Beating off competition from Loch Lomond, Gleneagles and The Belfry, to name but a few! This is a reflection of the high standards of service and quality we offer to our members and guests, our Commitment to Excellence and investment in our people.
