Junior Tennis & Health
For each of the sports mentioned, please download our Junior Programme.
The Juniors’ tennis programme uses an innovative colour-coded grading system to help children in all age groups enjoy their tennis and at the same time steadily improve their skills. The Club runs three 10-week courses per year and each participant benefits from the same weekly time slot and teaching professional every time. Juniors aged 5 to 13 years can book for these sessions during term-time and as a holiday camp. Every Junior level has a competition stream where stronger playing Juniors are invited to sessions by the team of Professionals. These Juniors are able to compete in all internal tournaments and play external local events and all are encouraged to be British Tennis members and to obtain a LTA rating.
Group and individual lessons are available for all ages throughout the week. Our skilled teachers work to the plan created by the national governing body for Swimming in the United Kingdom, the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) which takes the non swimmer from his or her first splash to developing confidence and competence in the water. Each term is specifically programmed to develop each swimmer along the ASA’s teaching plan. At the end of each term if the child has achieved the required standard they will receive their certificate and badge and move on to the next phase of their development.
During half terms and all school holidays the Junior team run extensive camps for Tennis, Football and also Multi Sport. These are particularly popular for 5 to 9 year olds. A typical Multi Sport camp runs from 0900-15.00 and involves different games (including mini-hockey), swimming, lunch, then a quiz and a run around. All under staff guidance.
Multi Use Games Area and Play Area
The Games area is tennis court sized and with the very best synthetic surface ideal for a whole range of exciting sports from basketball to hockey. You name it and this space can accommodate it. It is open during all daylight hours and available throughout the day. The adjacent Play area is all about fun and has safety specific flooring and well-maintained custom designed play equipment. It is a space where the younger members can really climb, spin or run free!
The idea came from Juniors themselves and its main function is as an unsupervised chill out area for children from 6 years to relax whilst their parents use the Tennis & Health Club (under sixes can enter however, if accompanied by an adult). The lounge offers access to Satellite TV, DVD player two Playstation 3’s and a Wii Console with a range of games to choose from. The Lounge is open during all family opening times and also serves as a venue for some of the Family Night activities such as movie night.
Family Night and Studio Classes
Friday evenings from 17.00 to 22.00 are ideal 11 to 14 year olds to get together, play some table tennis, listen to music and make use of the special Gym session the latter being for over 13′s. There are also swim and float sessions for all Juniors from 17.30 until 19.30. Additionally we offer a wide range of extra activities available in the Studio listed in the Junior Programme below.
